Taylor Swift: The Life of a Showgirl

Published October 9, 2025

This album is a very normal Taylor Swift album. Some of the lyrics are unbelievably cringe, which significantly detracts from the experience, but overall I would give it a 7/10. I think it is better than her last two albums, Midnights and The Tortured Poets Society, both of which I did not like all that much.

  1. The Fate of Ophelia - very catchy song which is one of the better ones.
  2. Elizabeth Taylor - I do like this song but I think it is pretty forgettable
  3. Opalite - one of my friends said that it sounds like Christmas music, and now I can’t stop thinking that. Not one of my favorites but it’s fine.
  4. Father Figure - I like this song, and think it has a very funny lyric. The rare Taylor Swift key change at the end is fun.
  5. Eldest Daughter - This is probably my favorite song from the album. I really like the sound and most of the lyrics. It is so unfortunate that this song features one of the cringiest lyrics at the start of the refrain. Other than that, I love the piano sound and the bridge.
  6. Ruin The Friendship - I like this song, but I think it is pretty repetitive
  7. Actually Romantic - One of the cringe songs, it just sounds so petty and the bridge is annoying sounding
  8. Wi$h Li$st - The lyrics are so pompous, like she thinks she’s better than other people for not wanting such superfluous things. I do like the melody though, and the part in the second verse with the background vocals.
  9. Wood - One of the best songs in my opinion, with such a great guitar and bass part and very catchy. I think the subject matter is funny and while not subtle, it’s also not uncomfortable to listen to.
  10. CANCELLED! - Absolutely horrendous song with cringe lyrics, boring instrumentals, and overall bad melody. Why does she say “Welcome to my underworld”, it just sounds so cringy and edgy.
  11. Honey - I like this song, and it reminds the most of the old Taylor albums like 1989.
  12. The Life of a Showgirl - First off, I can’t get over how Sabrina Carpenter pronounces her R’s in this song. I don’t know if she sings like that always and I just don’t notice, but I can’t stop hearing it. I like this song and its overall chiller atmosphere. The bridge sounds like a musical to me for some reason.
